Samsung Electronics has released plasma display panel TVs with a contrast ratio four times as high as ordinary PDP TVs to enable viewers to watch TV in broad daylight, the company said Wednesday. Using new filter technology, the ¡°daylight plus¡± model enables users to see images clearly in bright light and comes in a 42-inch and a 50-inch version that costs W3.4 million (US$3,400) and W4.7 million respectively. The higher the contrast ratio, the closer images are to their original appearance.
Korea¡¯s largest electronics company has also developed an exterior storage device dubbed ¡°Anyview¡± with a 300-GB hard disk that can store up to 30 hours of programs, making it possible to record them in real time and thus pause live programs and resume watching them later. LG Electronics ¡°time machine TV¡± released last year has similar capabilities.
