Star striker Park Ji-sung said, ¡°I don¡¯t think we have anything in particular at this moment, but we just need to display our skills to the greatest extent and consolidate teamwork.¡± Lee Young-pyo was confident Korea will make it to the round of 16 and is capable of defeating Togo, the first team it meets in Germany. Team leader Lee Woon-jae was also upbeat, ¡°We aim to win all three preliminary matches, and we won¡¯t use any tactics like seeking draws.¡±

But defenders cited lack of systematic play as a weak point. Choi Jin-cheul, the ¡°big brother¡± of the team, said midfielders and attackers were showing strong skills but defenders have a way to go. Asked how strong they thought the Togo team is after watching its tryout match with Saudi Arabia, Lee Chun-soo said Togo had become very offensive. Seol Ki-hyeon also stressed the need to brace for their offensive ability. .
