SK Telecom's U.S. Partner Takes Hard Hit
The U.S. actor Tom Cruise, star of the current blockbuster "Mission: Impossible III", has become an SK Telecom subscriber by signing up with the Korean telecom giant¡¯s U.S. joint venture Helio.

An insider with SKT said Cruise signed up after Helio's president Sky Dayton invited the star. The actor is in the midst of a publicity tour to Mexico and around the U.S. to promote the film, maximizing the PR effect for Helio by appearing with his cell phone in front of cheering fans.

Cruise uses the "Hero," a mobile phone exclusively available to Helio customers and made by a Pantech and Curitel. Dayton was apparently able to rope in the actor because the two are old acquaintances. ¡°Dayton is close to many Hollywood stars, so sooner or later there will be a lot of famous customers with Helio,¡± an SK insider predicts.
