Samsung Electronics announced Monday it will release the world¡¯s slimmest mobile phone at the Sviaz ExpoComm 2006, an information and communication technology show that starts in Moscow on Wednesday. Only 6.9 mm thick, the SGH-X820 model is the first slimmer than 7 mm, the company said.

Samsung has also released the world¡¯s slimmest slide handsets (SCH-V890/SPH-V8900) measuring 13.8 mm thick, a credit card-sized phone (SGH-P300) measuring 8.9 mm, a WCDMA phone (SGH-Z150) measuring 9.8 mm, and a ¡°smart phone¡± (SGH-i320) measuring 11.5 mm. The new bar-type model has a 2-megapixel camera, camcorder and MP3 player. It also features Bluetooth, file viewer and TV-out.
The phone will be released in the European market this month and in China in June.
