Seoul Mayor Apologizes Over Junket

Seoul Mayor Lee Myung-bak has expressed regret over his alleged abuse of office. He has come under fire for allegedly receiving lavish treatment at Seoul's city-owned tennis courts and using the public courts without paying full rental fees. Upon returning Seoul from the U.S. a day earlier than scheduled, Lee said he had ˇ°not been prudentˇ± over the fee. The allegations have dealt a heavy blow to the public image of the mayor, who is hotly tipped as a presidential candidate for the opposition Grand National Party. He plans to hold a press conference as early as Monday.
