Korea Wins Another Gold at Short Track
Korea took another gold medal at the Torino Winter Olympic Games winning the women's short-track skating 3,000-meter relay for the fourth consecutive time Wednesday night. The team of Byun Chun-Sa, Choi Eun-Kyung, Jeon Da-Hye, Jin Sun-yu and Kang Yoon-mi covered the distance in four-minutes and 17-seconds, beating Canada by three tenths of a second. Italy won the bronze as China became disqualified for an illegal move.

With the Wednesday's results Korea ranks seventh overall with four golds, three silvers and one bronze.

The Korean female short-track skaters have just proven to the world that they're virtually unbeatable in the relay event. Korea won their first gold medal in the event at the 1994 Lillehammer Games and have continued to remain on top ever since. In the 1998 Nagano Games both the men and women's relay team won the gold.

In the 3,000 meter relay, each team makes 27 turns around the track and the Korean team all did their part to put the team on top. This remarkable achievement is second to the Korean female archery team which dominated five Olympics in a row from 1988 to 2004.

Before heading to Torino Korea set out to win 7 medals, 3 of them gold to rank in the top 10. But now it is setting its goals higher. Korea is expecting at least two more golds in short track in which case it will rank the nation at 6th place. The best record in the winter Olympics for Korea was when it ranked 6th in the 1994 Lillehammer Games with 4 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze.
