A group of 15 private middle and high school chief directors, university presidents, parents and students filed a petition with the Constitutional Court requesting that the court issue a ruling as to whether the revised private school law violates constitution.
The group pointed to nine clauses for the court to review, which include mandates to: fill more than 25 percent of their board with faculty and parents; ease the conditions for recognizing or rejecting the appointment of directors; bring in an outside expert as one of two auditors; and prohibits appointing relatives of the chief director as school principals.
The complainants said in their petition that the revised private school law not only goes against a free democracy but also infringes on rights to pursue happiness, to be treated equally, to own properties and to not receive unfavorable treatment due to actions of one¡¯s relatives as well as the freedom to choose one¡¯s job and religion guaranteed under the constitution.
