Watchdog Ends Easy Online Access to Account Balance
The Financial Supervisory Service will stop banking customersĄ¯ access to their account balance when they log onto banking sites with their ID, account and PIN number. The FSS said Tuesday it will end the service next month but customers who apply can use it until March.

The service was meant for the convenience of customers, enabling them to refer to their account balance and transaction records without the Internet banking certificate needed to conduct financial transactions online.

But there have been drawbacks. Creditors have taken advantage by hacking into debtorsĄ¯ account balance and pressuring them to repay debts. Some banks have allowed customers use the service without registering for an Internet banking service.
