Measures to Cope with Deluge of Test-takers
Work will begin one hour later than usual for employees of public agencies and private corporations who will be expected to show up at 10:00 a.m. instead of the usual 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, the day of the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) for the 2006 academic year.

The measures aimed at managing traffic on the CSAT day will be implemented in all cities and across South Chungcheong Province, with the exception of Jeju Island.

The subway rush-hour level of operations in Seoul, Busan, Daegu and Incheon will be extended two hours from 7:00-9:00 a.m. to 6:00-10:00 a.m. Subway operations in Seoul will see an increase of 55 runs that day, while lines serving the Seoul metropolitan area will run at shortened intervals of 3 to 4 minutes, compared with the usual 4 to 6 minutes.

For 15 minutes between 8:40 and 8:55 a.m. and 20 minutes between 1:20 and 1:40 p.m. when listening and speaking tests are being conducted, all vehicles, including buses and trains, should slow down and must not use horns near schools where the CSAT is being administered. Take-off and landing schedules for all aircraft have also been readjusted, so that these hours will be noise-free.
