ChildrenĄ¯s favorite doll the world over, Barbie, is getting a Korean-style makeover. She will soon be making her debut in Korean traditional clothes and Korean designer brands. Although Barbie has been clad in just about anything imaginable over her 45-year career, this will mark the first time she dons Korean traditional garb.
The Austrian entertainment agency, EMS, is putting on a Barbie doll exhibition in Seoul from Dec. 10 until Jan. 28 at the Seoul Arts Center as part of the dollĄ¯s world tour to mark its 45th birthday.
The exhibition will show 15 Barbies in Hanbok designed by Kim Yeong-seok and 40 Barbies wearing clothes designed by top Korean designers such as Lee Kwang-hee, Son Jung-wan and Jung Ku-ho as well as 2,000 Barbies owned by collectors from around the world.
With an average of 3 Barbies sold every second, the doll made by Mattel is the world's best seller.
