The leaders of Canada, Australia and New Zealand now attending the APEC summit will visit Busan¡¯s UN Memorial Park in Daeyeon-dong on Friday and Saturday to remember their compatriots who fought in the Korean War.
Approximately 2,300 UN soldiers, including 378 from Canada, 280 from Australia and 24 from New Zealand, are buried in the park. Canada's Prime Minister Paul Martin is scheduled to visit it on Friday morning, before the first session of the APEC summit. Australia's Prime Minister John Howard and New Zealand's Prime Minister Helen Clark will visit after the second session on Saturday.
The remains of soldiers who fell in the Korean War had been scattered in Kaeseong, Incheon, Daejeon, Daegu, Millyang and Masan but they were gradually moved to Busan after 1951.
