Bush to Highlight 'Freedom' During Asia Trip: Newsweek
U.S. President George W. Bush will stress the need for human rights in Asia during his trip to Korea, China, Mongolia and Japan, the currents events magazine Newsweek said Monday.

The weekly quoted White House aides as saying Bush will deliver a keynote address on his pet topic of ˇ°freedomˇ± during his visit to Japan, sending a message that the future of the continent hangs ˇ°on rights that barely exist in places like China, Burma and North Korea.ˇ± To drive home the message, Bush plans to attend church service in China on Nov.19, a move that could irritate Chinese officials, the article said.

But other than that, Bush will try to present himself as an arbitrator in souring relations between Asian countries by steering clear of controversial issues during the APEC summit in Busan, Newsweek said.
