The U.S. current affairs magazine Time has picked the worldĄŻs first cloned dog Snuppy as the most amazing invention of 2005.
Reuters cited Time as saying the dog, cloned in August by a Korean team of scientists led by genetics pioneer Prof. Hwang Woo-suk, was so remarkable because it was created by a revolutionary method known as somatic nuclear cell transfer, which inserts a somatic cell taken, in this case, from an Afghan hound into the egg of another dog whose nucleus has been removed.
Other amazing inventions of the year include a bicycle with hydrogen fuel cell engine, a disposable camcorder, and a cat robot with the ability to understand voice command.
