The embattled Korean baseball player Park Chan-ho will tie the knot with his Japanese-Korean bride Park Ri-ae in Hawaii in November after a year of dating. Park is to make an official announcement of their wedding soon.
The San Diego Padres pitcher initially planned a huge wedding in the southern resort island of Jeju in December. But he reportedly changed the venue and scale after he lost his spot on the teams¡¯ post-season roster. Only a small number of guests including close family members will now attend the wedding.
Park will prepare his wedding in the U.S. without returning to Korea. The bride-to-be, a graduate of Japan¡¯s Sophia University, majored in French Cuisine at the Culinary Institute of America. Her father Park Chung-seo runs a real-estate firm in Tokyo and is rich enough to be ranked 76th in the most taxes paid by an individual in Japan in 1998.
