China¡¯s ambassador to Korea said Tuesday both governments should try to ensure that a molehill like parasite-infested Chinese kimchi does not grow into a mountain.
Ning Fukui told Korean Finance Minister Han Duck-soo during what was billed as a courtesy call he hoped problems in the trade of agricultural products would not harm the amicable relationship between the two countries, according to ministry official Lee Shi-hyeong. The visit comes against the backdrop of signs that China is preparing to retaliate for Korean food warnings about imports from the world¡¯s most populous country.
The envoy added the Chinese government agreed that food safety goes directly to the health of citizens. He said it would be regrettable if just because products manufactured by some private Chinese companies turned out to be unsatisfactory, people thought all Chinese goods were contaminated.
