Academic Could Be Questioned Over N.Korea Remarks
An outspoken academics may have landed his students at Dongguk University in trouble with remarks extolling the North Korean regime, the Segye Times reported Friday. The daily said word among fourth-year students at the university is that companies are asking job applicants where they stand on the controversial comments of Prof. Kang Jeong-koo.

Former pupils of the sociology professor are being advised to disown the academic or claim ignorance, the paper said, or if they cannot do that to state that they believe a variety of opinions are healthy for society.

A student identified as Lee, who signed up for Kang¡¯s class last semester, was quoted as saying he worried about his job prospects after seeing a web posting from a Dongguk graduate now working with a large business conglomerate. The graduate said he came across a note cautioning company staff against hiring Dongguk University alumni, Lee told the paper.
