Korean infants are among the worst night owls in the world, if a survey is to be believed. Procter & Gamble Korea conducted the survey of 432 mothers with children between 0 and three years on their offspring¡¯s sleeping habits over the last two weeks: the results announced Tuesday show that 51.4 percent of respondents said their babies go to sleep after 10 p.m., while 47.9 percent said bedtime is between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., and only 0.7 percent said before 7 p.m.
Compared with the results of P&G survey conducted through it¡¯s Pampers site last year, the figures show infants in Korea stay up later than in any other country. Last year¡¯s survey showed that an almost equally large proportion -- 46.8 percent -- of Japanese babies went to bed after 10 p.m. Sweden followed with 27 percent and the U.K. came third with 25 percent. France and Germany ranked fourth with 16 percent.
But the percentage of small children put to bed before 7 p.m. in Germany, France, and Sweden was significantly higher than in Korea, with 36 percent in Germany, 33 percent in France and 26 percent in Sweden. Among Korean parents, 36.8 percent answered they had taken their toddlers out after 9 p.m., 46.2 percent of them to discount stores and 29.4 percent to parks.
