Nearly half of teenage Koreans believe sex is fine if they love their partner, if an online survey is to be believed. The Internet community site Damoim (domoim.net) said Friday a survey of teenage subscribers revealed that 46 percent of the 2,146 respondents believed sex between minors was permissible as long as they loved each other. Some 39 percent said teens should restrain themselves until they became responsible adults, and 14 percent were undecided.
But an overwhelming 65 percent of respondents said they believed it was irresponsible for youngsters to have children. Only 22 percent said society needs to help teenage mothers since pregnancy can happen out of love, while 13 percent said love can conquer all, which suggests that most view teenage pregnancy negatively.
When asked how they would handle their own middle and high school-aged children and their relations with the opposite sex, 55 percent said they would trust their children to date and have sex by providing proper sex education and dialogue. Another 41 percent said they would allow their children to date but not to go all the way, while only 4 percent said they would not allow their children to date until they come of age.
