Michelle Wie, the 16-year-old golfer who has attracted world media attention as the future of women's golf, has been selected as one of the United States' most influential people of color. The U.S. business magazine Fortune announced a list of the 61 most influential Americans of minority extraction, including African Americans, Latinos and Asian Americans.

Michelle Wie was listed alongside Federal Reserve vice chairman Roger Ferguson and "The Tipping Point" author Malcolm Gladwell as "People to Watch." Also included on the overall list were U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez, civil rights activist Jesse Jackson, former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, Yahoo founder Jerry Yang, TV personality Oprah Winfrey and movie star Will Smith.

The Fortune list was not ranked but divided into 17 groups, including "Rising Stars", "Entrepreneurs", "Superstars" and "Artists in Residence".
