A persistent rumor has it that Samsung Electronics¡¯ ¡°Blue-Black Phone¡± is so successful because of its color, an unlikely view that is nonetheless given some backing by the fact that other dark Samsung phones are also selling like hot cakes.
The blue-black SCH-V720 and SPH-V6900 models have sold 250,000 units, or an average of 2,500 a day since their release, an industry source said Monday. Now the smaller slide phone SCH-S350 -- known as the ¡°super-mini phone¡± as it measures 85mm in length and weighs only 85 g -- has 300,000 units, or a 2,000 a day, since its release in March.

The slimmer SCH-S350 model is relatively cheap for Samsung, costing about W300,000 (US$300). But it has found enthusiasts especially among women for its slim slide design as well as for the fact that it looks like a smaller version of its bestselling sister product -- or so the source said.
However, another expert said while the ¡°super-mini phone¡± was helped along by brand power, being marketed under Samsung¡¯s Anycall brand, in reality it was an opportunity for Samsung to realize that there is huge demand for cheaper phones.
