Korea¡¯s largest electronics maker Samsung Electronics said Friday that it has recalled all of its SCH-B200 model DMB satellite phones for software bugs. The company has sold some 200 units of its SCH-B200 phone since it was released Thursday.
This is the first time that a mobile phone manufacturer has issued a recall for software bugs.
A Samsung official said, ¡°Our test team found that errors occurred when the phone's software chose an address to save downloaded programs. That very evening, we voluntarily issued a recall.¡±
The company has called all 200 customers who bought the phone to inform them of the problem. It plans to return the phones after installing a patch program. The firm said it would continue to correct problems should other software bugs be discovered so as not to cause even the slightest of inconveniences to consumers.
