A housewife was prevented from jumping from the 10th floor of an apartment building after a quarrel with her husband in a dramatic rescue attempt by her husband and a neighbor.
The 37-year-old woman identified by her surname Kim threw herself off the balcony of her apartment in Gwangju after a quarrel with her husband on Saturday. The husband, 42, was able to grab one of her legs but left her hanging upside down high in the air because he lacked the strength to pull her up.
Residents of the building gathered outside and called out, ¡°Someone is about to fall!¡± Hearing this, a neighbor identified as Yoon, 50, who lived in the apartment below the Kims, promptly went up to the 10th floor but found the door locked. Yoon then went to the 11th floor and climbed down to the 10th over a balcony, and there helped Kim to pull the woman up.
A police officer at the scene said but for Yoon¡¯s help, the woman would have fallen because the husband¡¯s strength was almost exhausted after he held her for over five minutes.
