Historians from South and North Korea will conduct a joint research on historic relics of the early Korean kingdom of Koguryo. This is the first time that the two Koreas carry out a joint survey since the Korean Peninsula was divided more than 50 years ago.
The Koguryo Research Foundation in Seoul says it will begin a 12-day survey of Koguryo relics on Tuesday in conjunction with North Korea's Academy of Social Sciences and the cultural heritage preservation office. The survey aims to focus on measuring the conditions of tomb murals and the exterior of ancient castles scattered around Pyongyang.
