Director Kim Ki-duk (45), the winner of director prizes at the Venice and Berlin film festivals, was mistaken for a homeless man at a police station on Friday, the Kyunghyang Shinmun reported.
On Friday afternoon, Kim went to Jungbu Police Station in Seoul to obtain a permit to manufacture a model gun for his new film. But his seedy appearance inspired little confidence, and when he kept repeating the phrase, "The leading man¡¯s gun, the leading man¡¯s gun," police decided he must be a disturbed vagrant.
The paper said police nonetheless made inquiries on the off-chance the man was indeed Kim Ki-duk, and when they found he was immediately changed their manner and asked the director for his autograph.
