Samsung Electronics has developed a new display for mobile phones it says saves power by dividing the screen into sections.
Korea¡¯s largest electronics maker said Wednesday the ¡°section display¡± is divided into an indicator window displaying various icons and a main window displaying background pictures. The new technology corrects a flaw of mobile phones that do not display the time and date or icons showing the battery status, waiting email and other information when the phone is switched to standby mode.
The company said it will use the technology for both bar and slide models and start mass production in the third quarter of the year.
