New Album Shows Off More Mature BoA

BoA Has Conquered Japan: Next Stop, the World
The cover of K-pop star BoA's fifth album, which is to hit stores on Thursday, tries to project a more mature and self-confident artist. Taken at a studio in Seoul's Gangnam neighborhood on June 11, the picture suggests greater freedom and depth by gesturing at a bohemian image.

A long, sweeping skirt and white blouse seem meant to emphasize that the star has grown from a little girl into a 20-year-old woman.

The title song, "Girls on Top," shows soul influences to give listeners a taste of BoA's richer voice and more powerful technique. Fans also look forward to the R&B song, "Can't Let Go," featuring fellow K-pop star Kang Ta on backup vocals.
