Women are most likely to be won over by a luxury-brand necklace, while all it takes to woo a man is to knit him a scarf, an online poll conducted by Shinsegae Department Store suggests. But the poll of over 10,000 members of Shinsegae.com shows that the importance of the neck as a key body part in romantic relationships has hitherto been underestimated. Some 17 percent of male respondents said a hand-knitted scarf was their preferred gift, while expensive necklaces got 22 percent of the womenĄŻs vote.
But when asked what the most useful gift was, women were as prosaic as men, with free passes to spas and gyms winning hands-down among 34 percent of men and 32 percent of women.
Some 22 percent of both genders said they would rather have cash in hand than clothes or accessories that conflict with what they consider their sense of style.
However, women appeared more comfortable having large sums spent of them. While 23 percent of male respondents said they felt uncomfortable with expensive presents, only 18 percent of women exhibited similar qualms. Some 26 percent of men were fully aware of this, saying they would dig into their savings or find part-time jobs to buy luxurious goods for their girlfriends.
