The nation¡¯s¡¯ luckiest lottery vendor, with four jackpot winners to its name, is the Chance Lotto Room in Gagyeong-dong in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province. One of 11 first-prize winning tickets in the 129th Lotto draw held on Saturday by Kookmin Bank was reportedly issued there, giving the lucky winner a share of a W1.094 billion (US$1.09 million) jackpot. With that, the humble shop merely added to the reputation it enjoys among local gamblers.
In March 2003, it saw its first jackpot win worth W17.014 billion, and in June of the same year it issued a winning ticket worth W8.73 billion. It sold the third winning ticket in November 2004 for prize money of W6.61 billion. The total is a staggering W33.4 billion.
The shopkeeper, identified only by the surname Lee, said the number of mail orders increased sharply after he notched up his second jackpot winner, and the number of regular customers is continuously on the rise. ¡°I¡¯m going to change the message on the answering machine to ¡®the shop that made four jackpot winners,¡¯¡± Lee said.
