Korea¡¯s own impotence cure will go on sale in August, stiffening competition in the 100 billion-won market for erectile dysfunction products now dominated by Viagra, Cialis and Revitra, all produced by multinationals.
Dong-A Pharmaceutical said its own product, DA-8159, showed ¡°clear positive results¡± in tests on 217 people in 13 hospitals over six months, the third and last clinical trial before it is cleared for release.
Dong-A has discreetly named the new product ¡°Zydena,¡± a compound word of the pronunciation of the Korean for ¡°work well (Zal)¡± and ¡°udenafil,¡± a component of the medicine. It works like other products already in the market, prolonging erection by suppressing the biological substance that interrupts it.
