Football's Cho Jae-jin in Adidas Global Campaign
Cho Jae-jin of Shimizu S-Pulse is to come to the consciousness of a global audience of billions.

Cho, 24, became the first Korean footballer to feature in commercials by the German sportswear giant Adidas as part of its global football campaign, a testament to his skills and stunning good looks. He stars alongside 10 other big-name players like David Trézéguet (France), Javier Saviola (Argentina), Fernando Morientes (Spain) and Arjen Robben (the Netherlands).

The theme of the advertisement, shot in top secret in a forest near St. Albans in Great Britain, is "Gimme the Ball." The commercial features the footballers struggling in dramatic and life-like fashion to get possession of the most important ball in football. In the spot, which calls to mind a Napoleonic battle scene, the players fight a life-or-death struggle using all their skills as if they were guns and sabers.

Cho shows off the spirit of Korea's "Taegeuk Warriors" when he gets possession of the ball and dribbles, keeping it away from Jermain Defoe, Lukas Podolski, Robben, Saviola, Djibril Cissé and others.

Simply scheduling the shoot using world-famous footballers wasn't easy. But despite their busy schedules the 10 stars sweated it out and gave it their all, earning a round of applause from the crew.

"With this campaign we will shock audience and offer them a new kind of football experience,¡± Adidas global PR chief Uli Becker said.

The commercial will hit the airwaves in Europe, South America, Africa and Asia from May 1. In Korea, the spot will run on terrestrial and cable TV and in movie theaters. ¡°It was an honor that I got to participate alongside such world famous names like Trézéguet and Saviola,¡± Cho Jae-jin said. "It was an even better experience because I got to appear with Fernando Morientes, whom I like personally.¡±
