Samsung, LG Update Bestselling Phones
Ever neck-and-neck, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics both introduced the most recent version of their bestselling mobile phones on Thursday.

Samsung launched its new model SCH-V600, the "sequel" to SCH-V500 -- known as the Horizontal Instinct phone in Korea -- which has been hugely popular since its launch last August. It¡¯s LCD screen can be rotated on its vertical and horizontal axis. A spokesperson for the company explained the gadget was easier to use for women with small hands, while increased room between buttons has improved comfort.

Meanwhile high-speed chips have been implanted to speed up game processing and transfer between menus. As a bonus, the Anycall music video ¡°Anymotion¡± starring pop singers Lee Hyolee and Eric is pre-installed. The phone is priced around W600,000 (US$600).

LG Electronics added new functions to its hit model LG-KP3500, dubbed the "Kim Tae-hee phone," which became popular with the actress as advertising presenter. The new version, the LG-LP5200 or ¡°Smart Kim Tae-hee phone¡± has an English-Korean dictionary containing 330,000 words and wireless FM transmission system that allows users to transfer MP3 music files to an audio player.

Its nano-silver anti-bacterial coating should take care of any health concerns, while the speech-recognition function automatically makes calls or changes the menu tool bars when told to do so. It can also read the day¡¯s schedule out loud. It is priced upward of W500,000.
