Following Sunday's earthquake in Fukuoka, Japan, aftershocks continue to affect the region including Korea's southeastern region. No further casualties or damage have been reported but experts warn that the tremors could continue in the days to come.
The aftershocks of Sunday's earthquake that jolted Japan's southernmost island of Kyushu continue as another quake with a magnitude of 4.6 struck the same area around midnight on Monday. The Japan Meteorological Agency said that the center of the quake was ten kilometers below sea level on the East Sea off the western coast of Fukuoka.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the latest quake but so far Sunday's earthquake has left one dead and more than 700 injured. The agency predicts the aftershock may affect the region for a few more days, saying 13 aftershocks measuring above 4.0 on the Richter scale have been recorded since Sunday.
Korea, which neighbors Japan, has been under the effects of the earthquake with mild tremors being felt in the country's southeastern port city of Busan. Korean experts said the readings of the tremors felt in Korea on Monday were between two and three on the Richter scale.
Though officials have not issued tsunami warnings in Korea, they warn aftershocks will likely continue approaching Busan and areas in South Gyeongsang province for the next couple of days.
