Samsung Electronics announced Wednesday it is developing liquid crystal display (LCD) monitors that support color correction technology for people with dyschromatopsia or color blindness and will launch them in the first half of the year. People with dyschromatopsia have difficulty telling differences in color and need stronger stimuli than the normally sighted.
The color correction technology, named Magic Vision, allows users to control red, green, and blue at 10 levels so viewers with impaired color vision can adjust the intensity of colors that give them difficulty.
Ha Yun-ho, executive director of Samsung Electronics, said that the objective of Magic Vision monitors was to offer everyone an opportunity to watch images in vivid colors. He vowed the company would continue to develop technologies for minorities.
Samsung also plans to release an LCD screen with the worldĄŻs fastest signal response speed of 4 milliseconds dubbed Syncmaster 930B. Signal response speed is the time required to move from one screen to another. When it is slow, traces of the previous screen remain, causing inconvenience especially when playing computer games. The speed of most popular monitors is 10 milliseconds.
