BBC Reports Kimchi Could Cure Bird Flu

Research Shows Kimchi May Be Effective Against Bird Flu
The BBC has reported that Korea's fermented vegetable dish, kimchi could help cure bird flu.

The report by the British broadcaster follows Korean media coverage of scientists at Seoul National University, who found chicken infected with avian influenza began recovering after they were fed an extract of kimchi.

The BBC reported that the results were far from scientifically proven, and if kimchi did have the effects the scientists observed, it was unclear why.

Over the last two years, there has been an increase in kimchi consumption among Asians following reports that kimchi could help prevent severe acute respiratory syndrome or SARS.
