North Korea-China Trade Surges
Recent findings indicate a surge in North Korea's trade with China. According to the Korea International Trade Association, North Korea's trade volume with China in 2004 rose more than 35 percent year-on-year, setting a new record of nearly US$1.4 billion.

Meanwhile, North Korea's trade volume with South Korea and Japan dropped over the same period.

The trade agency forecast bilateral trade between China and North Korea would further increase this year. The area bordering China and North Korea is currently being developed under bilateral economic projects.
