Seo Taji¡¯s seventh album ¡°Robot¡± was the bestselling album of 2004, according to research published Thursday by the Music Industry Association of Korea. But in the midst of slump in the industry, the album sold only 482,066 copies - a relatively low figure compared to 2002¡¯s bestseller, Kim Gun-mo¡¯s ¡°Wedding Invitation,¡± which sold over 520,000.
Lee Soo-young¡¯s remake album ¡°Classic¡± came in second with 380,868 copies and Lee Seung-chul¡¯s seventh album ¡°Long Day¡± was third with 352,323. Lee Soo-young¡¯s sixth album ¡°The Colors of Life¡± sold 343,724 copies, making Lee the singer with the most albums sold last year.
In the pop charts, Lim Hyung-joo¡¯s ¡°Misty Moon¡± was the only album selling over 100,000 copies (103,595). Avril Lavigne¡¯s second album ¡°Under My Skin¡± ranked second with 76,336 copies, and Britney Spears¡¯ ¡°In the Zone¡± sold 58,880.
Classic soprano Jo Su-mi¡¯s ¡°Be Happy¡± sold 56,409 copies, and Usher¡¯s ¡°Confessions¡± sold 51,688, followed by Abba¡¯s ¡°Best¡± (49,000), Beyonce¡¯s ¡°Crazy in Love¡± (45,000), compilation album ¡®Max12¡¯ (44,000), Britney Spears¡¯ ¡°My Prerogative¡± (39,000 copies), and Secret Garden¡¯s ¡°The Ultimate Secret Garden¡± (35,000).
