The U.S. Department of State expressed gratitude recently for the National Assembly's decision to pass a bill extending the length of time Korean troops will be stationed in Iraq by another year on Friday.
In its statement, the U.S. department welcomed the Korean parliament's vote in favor of the protracting the troop deployment in Irbil by one year.
It said that Korean troops have played a key role in the international effort to build a stable, safe, and prosperous Iraq, adding that the U.S. appreciates the country's continuous contribution, which is the third-largest contingent after the UK.
