Prior to the launch of this screen, Samsung Electronics¡¯ 63-inch PDP TV and LG Electronics 55-inch Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) TV dominated the top-end of the market, costing around W20 million each.
LG Electronics explained that this new model is supported by ¡°Full HD (High Definition)¡± technology, which enables it to project a picture ten times clearer than conventional analogue broadcasts. LG Electronics covered the product with gold to enhance what sales reps called its "best quality", while the company announced that it would only display the model at selected department stores and agencies that can lure customers with high purchasing power.
At the press conference Monday, LG Electronics President Woo Nam-kyun said, ¡°I think it¡¯s pretty expensive too,¡± adding that, ¡°we have introduced this flagship product to establish a leading role in the digital television market in the future.¡±
