Deprived of Business and Sex, Two Men Petition Constitutional Court over Prostitution Law
A certain Mr. Choi in Gangwon Province has petitioned the Constitutional Court, claiming, ¡°Because there are sexual problems between my wife and I, I have been going to prostitutes to relieve my sexual desires, but the enforcement of anti-prostitution laws have made this impossible¡¦ This has also endangered the livelihoods of those employed in red-light districts.¡±

In addition, a certain Mr. Kim who ran a sports massage parlor in Seoul¡¯s Bangbae-dong district petitioned the Constitutional Court last month, claiming, ¡°Because of the special law against prostitution, my business failed on Sept. 17, right before the law went into effect¡¦ The special law represses the basic urges of the majority of men and could damage local economies by contracting the tourism industry.¡±

A court official said the two cases are being looked at to see whether they belong at the Constitutional Court and if legal conditions have been satisfied, but it is unknown whether the court will begin full deliberations on them.
