At around 2:00 p.m. Monday, a woman identified as Choi discovered that her coworker Park had died at Park’s apartment in Gamchon-dong, Busan. At around 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, a neighbor identified as Kang found that Park’s husband Lee had died after jumping off the veranda of his apartment.

Police presume that Park took an overdose of sleeping tablets in despair over a conflict with her husband, considering she quarreled with her husband after getting married and left text messages threatening to kill herself on the cell phones of her husband and friends on the day she committed suicide. Police said Lee was saddened at the death of his wife and killed himself after being questioned by police.

According to police, Park, a nurse at a general hospital, married Lee, a doctor at the hospital, in November last year and began to live separately seven months ago after having quarrels with her husband over characteristic differences and her dowry. At the police questioning, bereaved family members of Park stated that they had prepared a dowry worth tens of millions of won although they couldn't afford it, but husband Lee’s family members had frequently expressed dissatisfaction and the couple had been in conflict over it.
