Sex Workers Go On Hunger Strike to Protest Prostitution Crackdown
Twenty female sex workers held a rally Seoul's Yeoui-do district to protest against the crackdown on the sex industry. After the rally, the participants went on an indefinite hunger strike.

The group of women, who belong to a union of workers from red-light districts in Korea, said ``We demand the government give us time to change our profession by suspending the special laws on the sex industry," and added "We will proceed with our hunger strike until our demands are met."

They also led a petition for the amendment or delay of the anti-prostitution law, saying the new law has put over 120,000 sex workers and their family members' livelihoods in serious jeopardy.
