Constitutional Court Puts an End to Capital Relocation Controversy
At a press conference held just after the Constitutional Court ruled on the unconstitutionality of the capital relocation law, Seoul Mayor Lee Myung-bak said that it was a victory for the people of Korea. Lee respected the Constitutional Court's decision and emphasized that he would work to further both the prosperity of Seoul and the balanced development of other regions in the future.

Gyeonggi Province Governor Sohn Hak-gyu at another press conference held on this day said that the Constitutional Court's decision was a historical judgment and proves that any sovereign must respect the people, who after all have the ultimate authority in lawmaking. He said that the discord and enmity stirred by the proposed capital transfer should be transformed into a focus on public cohesion, economy recovery and social stability.
