The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI), which had recently showed signs of recovery, sank over 20 points to the 830 level again on Wednesday. Facing a difficult situation where stock prices fluctuate and investors turn their backs on the stock market, securities companies are introducing various training programs for employees¡¯ mind and body, such as mountain climbing at night and marine training on Silmi Island, to lift their spirits.
GoodMorning Shinhan Securities has chosen a temple as a training site for its employees, drawing the public's attention. The company said, ¡°We decided to go to a serene temple to improve our attitude and obtain new energy.¡±
From Sept. 16 to 18, the company¡¯s 30 sales representatives participated in a temple stay, in which they experienced the life of Buddhist monks, at Jikji Temple in Gimcheon, North Gyeongsang Province. The representatives attended a worship ceremony at dawn, attended a tea ceremony, practiced Zen meditation and the ancient martial art of Tai Chi, cleaned the temple and participated in a ceremony in which monks bow 108 times and climb mountains. Participants pointed to meal time as the most memorable moment -- having to eat everything offered to them without leaving even a drop of water or a grain of red pepper powder.
