The owner of an Internet contract killer community and his 23-year-old female client were arrested when the woman asked the community administrator to arrange the contract killing of her live-in boyfriend's 4-year-old daughter.
On Monday, Gangwon Provincial Police Agency's Cyber Crime Investigation Squad arrested 30-year-old Mr. Lee on Monday for conspiracy to commit murder and fraud. Lee ran the "Contract Killing Cafe," where the planned murder was discussed and money exchanged.
In addition, police arrested 23-year-old office worker Miss Ahn for conspiracy to commit murder. Ahn had asked Lee to kill her live-in boyfriend's 4-year-old daughter.
According to the agency, Lee opened the online community at a portal site last December. He sent e-mails to members of the club with the message, "If I receive a certain amount of remuneration, I will kill someone for you." Two people, including Miss Ahn, sent Lee W13 million as murder contracts.
According to the results of the investigation, the agency noted that Lee got money from Ahn, and the two exchanged 30 emails with one other. The emails discussed the murder plan and concrete methods.
In particular, Ahn was jealous of her boyfriend's daughter, whom he continuously met after his divorce and did not hide his affectionate for. Ahn requested, "Kill the daughter of my boyfriend and make it look like a traffic accident."
The woman told police, "My boyfriend's didn't care about me but cared only for the daughter of his ex-wife, and the incident happened so suddenly." She added, "I received an email from the man saying the hit was a success. I was suspicious, but it was good he did not kill her."
Mr. Lee told police, "I did not mean to kill people. I just wanted to get money and this is why I planned the entire thing."
Police discovered that another man had put a hit out; they are currently carrying out an investigation into this. Meanwhile, police discovered the man also ran another website that sold aphrodisiacs, and are expanding their investigations.
