Members of the Korea Dairy and Beef Farmers Association held a "dairy cow demonstration" Monday, causing a commotion by blocking off traffic in some places during morning rush hour.
Members of the KDBFA let loose two dairy cows at the Nambu Bus Terminal intersection in Seocho-dong and three dairy cows along the Dongbu Trunk Road underneath the Gunja Bridge at 7~8:00 a.m. Monday as part of a demonstration demanding realistic milk prices.

Demanding an increase in the prices of milk, dairy farmers attempt to release two cows near Gwanghwamun, Seoul, Monday morning. Police hampered the attempt, however, by surrounding the cows.

Due to the rather inopportune appearance of the cows along major roads in the heart of the city during rush hour, traffic was backed up in places. Police and 119 emergency personnel were called in and successfully caught all the cows.
The KDBFA said, "The dairy industry is on the verge of bankruptcy, and despite going on hunger strike, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry refused to change their position, so we have conducted this form of protest out of indignation... We will continue to protest against the government for refusing to let our cows produce milk."
