Seoul National University's baseball team just recorded its first victory. Ever.
The team, composed of non-scholarship students only, beat Gwangju's Songwon University 2-0 in a preliminary Group B game at Dongdaemun Stadium on Wednesday. Team ace Park Jin-soo pitched a complete game, giving SNU its first baseball win since the team was re-established in 1977.
The team won a good-will match with China's Beijing University on Oct. 3 last year by a score of 8-3, but it had never won in 200 national games with other college teams. The team had lost in 199 games, although it did manage a 4-4 tie in a game with Hanil University & Presbyterian Theological Seminary on Aug. 26, the first game of this season.
SNU's baseball team made its debut in the national collegiate league in 1963, broke up in 1968 and was re-established in 1977.
