Man Busted for Killing Mom, Stealing Winning Lotto Ticket
Murdering his mother, stealing a Lotto lottery, and winning a grand prize with the stolen lottery... A man, who might have thought he was lucky to grab enormous fortune despite a series of evil acts, was caught on suspicion of murdering his own mother after failing to get rid of the dead body, the police said.

The man identified as Park ran a used camera store, which went bankrupt in July. To make matters worse, he was reduced to a credit delinquent because of credit card debts. Suffering from stress, he quarreled with his 60-year-old mother at his home in Seoul in mid-July and skilled her, stabbing her nine times.

Almost a month later on Aug. 8, he stole a wallet of a man who was sleeping in dead drunkenness at a park in Yeokchondong, Seoul. In the wallet, there were W100,000 in cash, one Lotto lottery, and two instant lotteries. He checked whether the ticket was won and found that it did win the grand prize in the 88th lottery held on Aug. 7, only a day before he stole the wallet.

Before tax, the prize stood at W3.06 billion and the actual amount of money he received was W2.1 billion. He first spent W100 million to pay off his debts and put the rest in a bank, dreaming of running a business again.

He left his mother¡¯s dead body at home, however, which gave out stinking smell as it decayed due to hot weather. Suspicious of the bad smell that lingered for several days, the building owner reported it to police on Aug. 21.

He is reportedly denying all charges against him. The police said, ¡°Park is claiming that he himself bought the Lotto lottery, but he is inconsistent in saying when and where he bought it. But the man who lost his wallet found it at Parks¡¯ home.¡±
