Following Samsung, LG and Pantech & Curitel have also announced the launching of their new 3 million pixel camera phones on Sunday. A pixel is the smallest image-forming unit of a video display; more pixel means better quality of the image.
LG, the 2nd largest mobile phone handset manufacturer in Korea, will launch its 3 million pixel camera phones, SD350 and KP3500 for SK Telecom and KTF respectively on Monday. Other than MP3 playing and 115 minuet video recording, both models feature "Mega Shutter," a system that shuts out unnecessary light when shooting photos.
Pantech & Curitel, too, introduced two new 3 million pixel camera phones with television reception, PH-S5000V and PH-K1000V which will hit the market in the middle of the month. The products are supported by the companies own camera module technology; they can also record up to 160 minuets of video clip. The mobile phones are now placed in the middle of digital convergence with the advent 3 million pixel camera phones since mobile phones, digital cameras and camcorders can be replaced by one device. Park Mun-hwa, President and CEO of LG Electronics stated, ¡°from now on compositeness and convergence will be the new focus of the mobile competition.¡±
