At 11 a.m. On July 7, a man in his 40s visited Yeouido subway station office at Line No. 5 and left three checks for W100,000 saying, ¡°I regret that I rode the subways for several years by using children¡¯s ticket.¡± Tickets for children are half-price compared to those for adults.
This man looked seedy wearing a T-shirt with half-sleeves and slippers. Lee Geun-yeong, the head officer at the Yeouido Station, said that he declined the man¡¯s money saying ¡°I can¡¯t receive this money since you are not an illegal rider who was captured on the spot.¡± But the man did not listen to Lee by saying he had felt uncomfortable and distressed due to owing the subway. Lee said, ¡°Though I temporarily accepted the money returned from the man for his illegal rides, I will give the money back anytime when he changes his mind.
