The Foreign Ministry employee that received the phone call from the AP inquiring the kidnapping of Kim was confirmed.
After internal investigations, the Foreign Ministry confirmed that a Foreign Ministry secretary among others received an inquiry from a correspondent of the Associated Press in Korea on June 3, and submitted the related data to the Board of Audit and Inspection.
A high-ranking government official said about three employees, including a secretary, received the phone call from AP, but the two technical employees were revealed to have no relations to this matter.
The official said that the Foreign Ministry secretary who received the phone was situated to gather daily reports from Iraq, and it was confirmed that he did not report the inquiry to his senior official.
